First Location at IMV StartThe ADT location the patient occupied when invasive ventilation began — where they were intubated, not where they were admitted.
Initial Ventilator ModeThe first ventilator mode charted at or after ventilation start — one per invasively ventilated hospitalization. Other pools APRV, blow by, standby, volume support and the upstream "other" category. Hospitalizations with no mode charted are excluded.
Initial Ventilator SettingsMedian ventilator settings over the first 24 hours of invasive ventilation. Measured from ventilation start.
Vasopressor MedicationsPer-drug: the share of hospitalizations that received it, and the median infusion dose across those hospitalizations.

Interactive Data Explorer
Explore consortium data across 12 institutions and 16 years. Use the filters below to customize your view.
Note: To protect patient privacy, values with n < 10 are shown as "-" and excluded from export. Sub-categories may therefore not add up exactly to their parent totals — small counts are suppressed, rare categories are combined into "other" (see each row's for what it covers), and some unknown or missing categories are not displayed.
Data Coverage: Sites have varying data coverage periods. Use the Table view to see years covered for each site, then select appropriate sites and years for valid comparisons.

Hourly Trends
Explore medication and respiratory support patterns over the first 7 days of ICU admission across 12 institutions.
Note: Data shows medication administration patterns aggregated across all ICU encounters at each institution.
Time is measured from each patient's first ICU admission (hour 0 = first hour in ICU, hour 24 = end of day 1, hour 167 = end of day 7).
Data Distributions
Compare lab values, vital signs, and respiratory parameters across institutions using histograms and empirical cumulative distribution functions (ECDF).
Measurement window:
Reference units: some sites' values are under review for reference-unit mismatches, so a site's curve may sit on a different scale than its peers for a given parameter.
How to interpret the chart:
Histogram bars show frequency - what percentage of measurements fall in each value range.
ECDF lines show cumulative probability - what percentage of ALL measurements are at or below that value.
Example: If you hover at Albumin = 3.0 g/dL and see:
- Site A: 25% → 25% of Site A's albumin values are in the bin around 3.0
- Site A ECDF: 60% → 60% of Site A's albumin values are ≤ 3.0 g/dL
The ECDF tells you "how many patients have values this low or lower" while the histogram shows "how common is this specific value range."
Tip: First select a parameter from the sidebar, then choose which sites to compare. We recommend selecting 2-3 sites at a time for cleaner visualizations.

Data Source
This dashboard presents aggregated, de-identified data from the CLIF Consortium spanning 2011-2026. All data has been standardized according to CLIF data format specifications and undergoes rigorous quality assurance processes. MIMIC IV data is included for benchmarking purposes.
Methodology: Median values shown are weighted medians calculated using site-specific sample sizes. Interquartile ranges (IQR) represent the minimum Q1 to maximum Q3 observed across sites as an approximation for aggregated data.
